KronickCover2Here’s a few excerpts from my story about this Amsterdam-born movie and documentary producer which appears in my new book “A Year’s Worth of Amsterdam Birthdays.” To order a copy, click here.

Young William Kronick’s interest in movies and moviemaking were very understandable seeing that his father was the owner of the Orpheum Theater that used to be located on Market Street in Amsterdam, NY. He grew up on Brookside Avenue …

…While on a NATO exercise in Sweden, he met Swedish film director Alf Sjoberg who somehow arranged to have Kronick apprentice with the legendary Ingmar Bergman on the film The Magician …

…Kronick then parlayed that success into a job with a well-know television documentary producer named David Wolper as a writer/director. Kronick’s films included the very popular National Geographic sponsored Alaska, Mysteries of the Great Pyramids, To the Ends of the Earth and Plimpton
