Ed Kolodziej, father of former AHS All-American hoop star Tim Kolodziej may have made the more famous genetic contribution to scholastic basketball in the City of Amsterdam, but if his brother John wasn’t born on this date in 1917, both the varsity basketball programs of St. Mary’s Institute and Amsterdam High School would not have been as successful as they were during the 1960’s…
The starting center on the 1967 AHS team was 6’4″ John Favorito. The 1967 team had a much better record, (albeit one game under .500), than the 1968 team when Torani and Eric were seniors.

Thanks for the input Dave. I remember big John Favorito very well from that ’67 squad. He was a great all-around player. I remember Jerry Fedasch (sp?) from that team as well. I also remember watching the ’69 team when you Mel Bradwell, Rick Bien, Pete Diamond, Gus Orsini et al. were seniors.

I agree. John was a good player. I enjoyed watching that team after the Jv games. I think Jerry Fedasch graduated in 1966. He was a good player too.
